Your mission
We’re hiring a Business Developer to secure battery supply across multiple categories—new batteries from battery OEMs, used batteries, and surplus/oversupply stock (e.g., from automotive OEMs, Tier-1s, integrators). You’ll work closely with our sales operations team, legal, and finance to ensure that sourced batteries are tradeable, bankable, and fit for customer requirements.
This role is commercially driven and relationship-heavy, combining sourcing/origination, market intelligence, and deal execution. You’ll work closely with quality, logistics, legal, and sales teams to ensure that sourced batteries are bankable, traceable, and fit for customer requirements.
Your profile
Required Qualifications - 3–8+ years in business development, sourcing, procurement, or origination within batteries, automotive, energy storage, electronics, recycling, or industrial supply chains.
- Proven ability to negotiate and close B2B agreements with senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial skills: pricing, risk assessment, contract terms, and relationship management.
- Comfortable with battery fundamentals (chemistry, formats, degradation drivers) and fit-for-purpose thinking.
- High process discipline (documentation, traceability, pipeline hygiene).
Bonus- Experience sourcing used EV batteries or industrial lithium-ion batteries at scale.
- Familiarity with testing/grading approaches (SoH estimation, impedance/OCV checks, diagnostic data).
- Understanding of dangerous goods logistics and cross-border movement constraints.
- Existing network in automotive OEMs, Tier-1s, cell makers, recyclers, and battery service ecosystems.
- Experience with ESG/sustainability stakeholders and circular economy programs.
Supply Origination & Pipeline Creation
- Build a sourcing strategy by category: new batteries,usedandsurplus(cells/modules/packs).
- Identify and approach supply partners; map decision-makers across procurement, aftersales, engineering, and sustainability teams.
- Create a qualified supply pipeline with clear attributes: chemistry, form factor, volumes, timing, location, documentation, and constraints.
- Maintain structured tracking in CRM/sourcing tools (availability, lead times, status, next steps).
Supplier Qualification & Due Diligence
- Qualify supply streams for technical suitability and commercial viability (chemistry/form factor, configuration, condition & grading, compliance/documentation).
- Coordinate with internal teams to define acceptance criteria and incoming inspection requirements.
- Assess supplier reliability: capacity, quality processes, and consistency of supply.
Deal Structuring, Negotiation & Contracting
- Lead commercial negotiations: pricing models, minimum volumes, allocation, payment terms, Incoterms, delivery schedules, warranties/as-is terms, returns/claims.
- Structure agreements appropriateto each category: framework agreements for new cells/modules, spot buys for oversupply, and take-back/offtake-style agreements for used streams.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance on contracts, liability allocation, and regulatory constraints.
Cross-Functional Execution (From “Signed” to “Delivered”)
- Work withour sales operations team for logistics and operations to ensure safe, compliant transport and storage (dangerous goods handling where applicable).
- Align supply with sales demand: prioritize lots that match customer requirements and margin targets.
- Support issue resolution with suppliers (missing documentation, quality deviations, delivery delays).
Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Monitor market pricing and availability across categories (new allocation tightness, surplus waves, used battery flows).
- Track regulatory changes impactingused battery movement, battery passports, and cross-border logistics.
- Provide sourcing insights to guide product strategy and sales positioning.
About Us
Founded in 2019, Circunomics helps companies buy, sell, and route used batteries in a structured and reliable way. We operate a curated B2B marketplace where battery assets from electric vehicles and energy storage systems are assessed, documented, and matched with the right next step, either reuse in second-life applications or recycling.
Our platform brings together standardized asset information, battery data analysis, and regulatory guidance so that buyers and sellers know what is being traded, what is required, and what comes next. This reduces uncertainty, shortens decision cycles, and prevents battery transactions from getting stuck late in the process.
By making battery reuse and recycling easier to execute at scale, Circunomics supports the energy transition and helps turn used batteries into valuable resources rather than waste.
